SECDEF Delivers Oath of Enlistment to 85 Recruits at Fort Meade

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III delivered the oath of enlistment to 85 new recruits across the Armed Forces at the Fort Meade Military Entrance Processing Station, July 5, 2023. 49 Soldiers, 13 Marines, 5 Sailors, and 18 Reservists took the oath during the ceremony, marking the beginning of their commitment to protect and defend the nation. Former Chief Master Sergeants of the Air Force discuss great power competition, future force during AFDW-hosted event

Four of the previous Chief Master Sergeants of the Air Force participated in a Senior Enlisted Statesmen visit hosted by the Air Force District of Washington on March 7, 2024. Former Chief Master Sergeants of the Air Force Eric Benken, Fredrick Finch, Gerald Murray and Rodney McKinley were welcomed by AFDW commander Maj. Gen. Daniel DeVoe and Command Chief Master Sgt. Charmaine Kelley at the start of the day-long event, which coincided with the change of responsibility ceremony for the 20th Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force David A. Flosi. The former CMSAFs received briefings on the future state of the Air Force, the current intelligence landscape, and the great power competition. AFDW Airmen Participate in Two-Day Readiness Exercise

Military and civilian personnel assigned to the Air Force District of Washington participated in a two-day readiness training event at Joint Base Andrews, Md., June 13 and 14, 2024. During the first day, AFDW Airmen participated in training focused on deployment readiness including tent building, hand-to-hand combat skills, vehicle maintenance and medical training. For the second day, military and civilian personnel came together for professional development training. Panels included an intel brief provided by Brig. Gen. (ret) Brian Davis of Air University’s China Aerospace Studies Institute, and Mr. Robert Rhoden, Deputy Director of AFDW’s Intelligence Directorate, and a seminar on creating high quality connections by Dr. Kimberly Dickman, an assistant professor at the United States Air Force Academy Center for Character and Leadership Development.
