Updated Trade Show Displays for AFDW

Challenge:
Over 39,000 Airmen fall under the Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), yet many are unaware of their connection to the command or the resources available to support them. This knowledge gap limited their ability to access essential tools and assistance.
Approach:
To tackle this, I developed an integrated solution combining interactive trade show displays with a comprehensive website. The centerpiece was a 12 ft by 9 ft banner featuring a QR code that linked directly to the website, making it easy for Airmen to engage with resources in real-time. Accompanying the banner were six 4 ft by 12.5 ft pop-up banners, all designed using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to capture attention and spark curiosity of passersby. The website served as a centralized hub, offering key resources, points of contact, and detailed insights into AFDW’s mission and support.
Impact:
The QR code integration made the experience interactive and streamlined, allowing Airmen to quickly access the website and explore the resources available to them. This dual approach increased awareness and engagement, empowering Airmen to utilize AFDW’s support effectively and strengthening their connection to the command.

Promotional Materials for 9C Flyer Program
Challenge:
As photography and video demands increase across the United States Air Force, AFDW’s 9C Flyer Program ensures in-house aerial documentation capabilities for operational support when Combat Camera photographers are unavailable . However, many Airmen and organizations were unaware of the program’s purpose or how to access its resources, limiting its potential to support critical missions.
Approach:
To address this gap, I designed an informative flyer to promote the 9C Flyer Program using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. The flyer included a custom QR code linking directly to a service request platform, streamlining access to aerial documentation support. I combined compelling visuals, program details, and a user-friendly design to make the flyer engaging and accessible.
Impact:
The flyer was well received by the Air Force Public Affairs Agency, which will use it to advertise the 9C Flyer Program to the entire Department of the Air Force. By raising awareness and simplifying the process of requesting aerial documentation, the flyer ensures greater utilization of the program, enabling support for critical missions such as operational analysis, historical documentation, and humanitarian relief efforts across the Department of Defense.
Product Design for Gaja
Challenge:
Many people struggle to remember important dates like anniversaries and birthdays, often leading to last-minute gift purchases that may not feel personal. Gaja, a Baltimore-based company, sought to create a seamless gift-sharing app that leverages machine learning to track special occasions and suggest meaningful gifts based on users’ connections, preferences, and interests. The challenge was to design an intuitive, visually appealing, and user-friendly platform that enhances the gifting experience while ensuring brand consistency.
Approach:
As the lead product designer, I developed the app’s UI/UX to ensure a smooth, engaging, and intuitive experience. I created the logo, branding color palette, and overall design system to establish a cohesive brand identity. Additionally, I crafted detailed design guidelines for developers, ensuring alignment between functionality and aesthetics throughout the development phase. By prioritizing accessibility and ease of use, I designed an interface that enhances user engagement and simplifies the gifting experience.
Impact:
Although still in development, Gaja’s app now has a strong foundation with a well-defined visual identity and user-centric design. The branding and UI/UX framework provide clear direction for developers, ensuring consistency as new features are built. Once launched, the app aims to revolutionize gift-giving by making it effortless, personalized, and more meaningful through AI-driven recommendations and an intuitive design.

Promotional Flyer for Military Spouse Employment Seminar

Military spouses often face challenges in maintaining steady employment due to frequent relocations and the demands of military life. To help address this issue, the Army Community Services program at Fort Meade organized an employment seminar to provide free training, educational and employment resources, internship opportunities, and networking support. However, they needed a visually compelling flyer to effectively promote the event, ensuring maximum participation from the military spouse community.
Approach:
I designed a clear and engaging flyer that highlighted key details about the employment seminar, making it easy for military spouses to quickly understand the event’s purpose and benefits. I incorporated a QR code for seamless registration, ensuring accessibility and convenience for potential attendees. The design maintained a professional yet inviting aesthetic, aligning with the Army Community Services branding while making the flyer visually appealing and informative.

Promotional Materials for Kuhn Hall Education & Resiliency Center
Challenge:
The newly opened Kuhn Hall Education and Resiliency Center at Fort Meade provides educational support, financial counseling, and mental health and wellness services to active-duty service members and their families. However, raising awareness about the center’s full range of resources was essential to ensuring that those in need could easily access support. The challenge was to create a promotional brochure that effectively communicated these offerings while maintaining Fort Meade’s branding and resonating emotionally with its audience.
Approach:
I designed a trifold brochure that adhered to Fort Meade’s branding guidelines while emphasizing themes of togetherness, support, and resilience. Using a clean and inviting layout, I carefully structured the content to highlight available resources in a clear and approachable manner. I incorporated imagery and design elements that reinforced the importance of community and leaning on others for support, ensuring that the brochure felt both informative and encouraging.

Department of the Army Security Guard Hiring Fair
Challenge:
The Department of Emergency Services at Fort Meade faced a critical reduction in manpower for their security forces responsible for guarding the installation’s entrance gates. To address this shortage, they organized a series of hiring events specifically for Department of the Army Security Guards. However, effectively reaching qualified candidates and providing them with key information about the position was essential to ensuring successful recruitment.
Approach:
I designed a targeted, high-impact flyer that clearly outlined essential job details, including salary, fitness test requirements, and the application process. To simplify the application process, I incorporated a QR code linking directly to the job posting. The design adhered to Fort Meade’s branding guidelines while emphasizing urgency and the benefits of the role to attract qualified applicants.
Impact:
The flyer served as a vital recruitment tool, increasing awareness and interest in the Department of the Army Security Guard positions. By providing a direct and accessible way for candidates to apply, the flyer contributed to a more efficient hiring process, helping the Department of Emergency Services address manpower shortages and strengthen security at Fort Meade’s entrance gates.
Brand Identity for the Developmental Advisory Council
Challenge:
The Developmental Advisory Council within the Communications-Electronics Command’s Software Engineering Center was a newly established organization focused on providing professional development opportunities to junior-level employees. However, without a distinct brand identity, it struggled to generate awareness and attract members. The challenge was to create a compelling visual identity that would establish credibility, enhance visibility, and effectively communicate the council’s mission to its target audience.
Approach:
I designed three unique logo options that reflected the council’s focus on professional growth, mentorship, and career development. Once the council selected their preferred logo, I incorporated it into promotional flyers. The fresh, modern aesthetic was chosen to appeal to junior employees.
Impact:
The newly established brand identity provided the Developmental Advisory Council with a strong visual foundation, increasing recognition and credibility among junior-level employees. The professionally designed materials enhanced promotional efforts, leading to greater visibility and engagement. As a result, the council was able to attract more members, effectively positioning itself as a valuable resource for career development within the Software Engineering Center.
